Ms. Newman has been
with the firm since 1998. Her litigation and arbitration practice focuses on
disputes involving charter parties, contracts of affreightment, letters of indemnity,
the Federal Arbitration Act, maritime casualties, and personal injury and death.
She also advises clients on U.S. Regulatory matters affecting shipping activities
and on the subject of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 and state oil spill laws.
She is an active member of the Maritime
Law Association of the United States ("MLA"), serving as the Secretary for its
Young Lawyers Committee and its Continuing Legal Education Committee. She is
also a member of the Association of Average Adjusters and the Women's International
Shipping and Trading Association (USA).
She is a member of the Board of Directors of The Riverside Towers Corporation.
